The president and spiritual advisor is Most Ven. Melpitiye Wimalakitti, who has been practicing for 45 years as a Buddhist monk. He is originally from Asgiriya Maha Vihara, Kandy, Sri Lanka, and he obtained a B.A From the University of Peradeniya, Sri laknka and a PHD in Buddhism from university of Delhi in India. He has taught Buddhism in several countries including Cambodia, Vietnam, Malaysia and South Korea

Gotama Buddha Vihara was founded on the 2nd of January 2020, as a Buddhist Meditation center to teach Buddhist philosophy and meditation. GBV is mainly supported by the Vietnamese, Bangladeshis and Sri Lankan Buddhist community. GBV also Warmly welcome people of all walks in life
